Hunting in Namibia is more than a sport—it’s a way to support conservation, protect wildlife, and sustain local communities. Responsible hunting helps maintain healthy game populations, prevents overpopulation, and funds anti-poaching efforts. Trophy hunting is a positive side effect: when a mature animal is taken, proceeds go toward wildlife conservation, habitat preservation, and the livelihoods of everyone working on the land. On Okondura, we hunt ethically and sustainably, following the guidelines of the Erongo Directory and our membership in the Okawie Conservancy. Only mature, suitable animals are hunted, and all game is truly free—able to roam and evade hunters—making every success hard-earned and memorable.
At Okondura, every hunt is guided by experience, skill, and passion. From professional hunters and expert guides to our support staff and well-trained dogs, the team works seamlessly to ensure ethical, safe, and unforgettable hunting experiences. With four generations of expertise, we combine local knowledge, precision, and care to make every visit rewarding for both guests and wildlife.
Hunting is an active pursuit here. Early mornings and late afternoons are prime, starting with a drive to the hunting area. High vantage points help locate game before the stalk begins. If the game doesn’t come to us, we go to it—over hills, through bush, or across open grasslands.
Kudu: Exciting mountain stalking for strong, mature bulls.
Oryx & Mountain Zebra: Demanding hunts that test skill and patience.
Smaller Antelopes: Steenbuck, Duiker, Springbuck—quick, clever, and challenging.
Shooting is done via natural pads or target sticks. Pre-trip training in various shooting techniques is recommended. Well-trained dogs accompany all hunts for tracking and retrieval. For those less mobile, stationary hunts at waterholes are available for species like warthogs.
Leopard hunting is highly selective and requires planning. Only one license per year is available at Okondura, so early booking (up to 3 months ahead) is essential. Hunting involves careful bait placement, blind construction, and patient, silent observation. Our long experience with leopards ensures safety and respect for this secretive predator.
The diversity of game reflects our varied landscape: from tiny Damara Dik Dik to Oryx, Eland, and mountain Kudu. Okondura is especially known for its Kudu population, thriving in rugged terrain. Leopards roam the farm in notable numbers, providing a rare and challenging opportunity for hunters. Other species include:
Mountain Zebra
Warthog
Oryx
Wildebeest
Jackal
Every hunt is designed to challenge skill, encourage ethical practices, and reward the hunter with memorable experiences.
